What is Founder's Day and why is it so important to our local fellowship?
As I go through boxes & boxes & boxes & boxes & boxes of group, district & area records, I’m amazed to think that our history is only a little bit more than 70 years old. Prior to Bill and Bob’s fateful meeting, there was no Alcoholics Anonymous – no hope for suffering alcoholics. How blessed we are to have sober lives today!
This year’s local celebration of our history is on Saturday, June 12th at the Salvation Army on Palomino Lane. Breakfast starts at 7 am. The schedule includes open & marathon meetings, an old timer’s panel, speaker meetings, lunch & dinner. The final meeting – a speaker meeting - starts at 7 pm. Tickets (without meals) are just $5, with 3 meals, the cost is about $20 – with unlimited(!) coffee. The proceeds go to Central Office to help carry the message to alcoholics who still suffer.
The Archives Committee meets every Tuesday from 8:30 – 11:30 at Central Office. Please come join us as we sort, catalog & figure out how to best display local AA history.
